Alpha Omicron Pi at Cal Poly is dedicated to preventing sexual assault, not only on Cal Poly’s campus, but on a national scale.
100% of members in this organization have pledged to download the revolutionary application, Ulzi, a tool to help eliminate sexual assault.
This organization of caring community members raced to support a method that allows them to aid in preventing sexual assault. Ulzi is a free community-based safety app that helps keep everyone safe through crowdsourced safety. By having each member of this sorority show commitment to such an application, the chapter overwhelmingly demonstrated their stance against sexual assault and their care in making their community safer.
“We are committed to keeping our women safe. If there is an easy, effective way to promote our chapter’s overall well-being and safety, we will take every step internally to integrate the system within our sisterhood.” – Montana Sannes, Vice President
More about Cal Poly’s Chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi:
The Arthritis Foundation is AOII’s philanthropy. Cal Poly’s AOII chapter has received multiple accolades at both the national and collegiate level. They are most proud of their philanthropic efforts, which have been recognized repeatedly.
In 2016, their chapter raised over $40,000 for The Arthritis Foundation, hosted a Walk to Cure Arthritis on Cal Poly’s Campus, and provided starter-packs to families with children affected by Juvenile Arthritis. They were awarded nine collegiate excellence awards at AOII’s National Convention in 2016, and remain most proud of their award for continued support of the National Arthritis Foundation.
On Cal Poly’s campus, AOII has over 280 members involved in a variety of leadership and scholastic endeavours. “Inspire Ambition” is Alpha Omicron Pi’s official national tagline meant to encompass their mission as a sorority. This saying was crafted to communicate to both members and non-members that Alpha Omicron Pi is full of passionate and driven women – women who are impacting the world through hard work and determination.
AOII seeks to inspire courage and ambitiously pursue their goals in order to be intelligent, successful, and empowering women. Montana Sannes added,
“One of our members, Katie Segars, is part of the development team for the Ulzi app, and our chapter is so proud of her!”
Congratulations to every member of Cal Poly’s Alpha Omicron Pi for being one of the first organizations to take this step in fighting sexual assault. With support from people like you, Ulzi will be able to find solutions, decrease sexual assault statistics, and help YOU be the change in your communities.
