5 Years of Silence: A Rape Survivor Shares Her Story

A written version of Madison’s story can be found at the bottom of this page, as well as here on Ulzi Stories.

He chose to make me a victim. But I don’t choose that.

I choose to be empowered and loved and free.

I choose to be a voice for those who are silent. I choose to share my story.

Because when you share your story, you change your story.

Pain is inevitable; we all have it. But the ability to navigate through your pain and turn it into positivity is a choice. And I choose to invent a new possibility – for myself and for others. A new possibility for conversation. For true, raw, vulnerable human connection.

I will not become my story. I will create my story.
